A limited number of travel grants will be awarded based on need to IWGO Student and Postdoc presenters (oral or poster). The awards will be in the form of a registration fee waiver/discount and/or student housing support.
How to Apply:
(1) Submit your abstracts by April 13 (late news submissions will not be eligible), (2) wait for your oral or poster acceptance notification on May 5, (3) if accepted, ask your advisor to prepare a letter that includes a statement on your qualifications and explains your financial need for attending IWGO, and (4) e-mail the letter to events@avs.org by May 29. In the e-mail be sure to also include your first and last name, presentation title, and abstract ID.
Student Awards
The IWGO student awards, sponsored by APL Electronic Devices and Applied Physics Letters, two journals from AIP Publishing, have been established to recognize outstanding research performed by a student or junior researcher (within 5 years of Ph.D.) in areas relevant to ultra-wide bandgap Gallium Oxide and related semiconductors. The best oral and poster awards will be presented on Friday, August 7, during the workshop closing remarks. Four awards, each accompanied by a $500 cash prize and a certificate, will be presented as follows.Best Oral Presentation Award:
- First authored by a student (work presented must be done during their student time)
- First authored by a junior researcher (work presented must be done during their first 5 years after PhD)
Best Poster Presentation Award:
- First authored by a student (work presented must be done during their student time)
- First authored by a junior researcher (work presented must be done during their first 5 years after PhD)
Eligible students and junior researchers (PhD received in 2021 or after) should indicate their interest in being considered during abstract submission.
